Description
Slight change of pace on the airshow photos. While watching some of the smaller aircraft, some of us noticed there was a particularly large aircraft holding station on the horizon, just within visual range. Turns out it was this Airbus, which made a single, simple flyby, flanked by two F-16 Falcons, I believe from the Belgian air force.
Apparently, the intention was to show how the air force would respond to a rogue jet entering their airspace without communication, possibly a result of a broken radio, or something more sinister. I'm not sure they'd have their F-16s equipped with smoke dispensers, though!
Sigh, the world is a very different place from that which existed when I visited these shows in my childhood!

While there may be a somewhat dark undertone to the reason that such demonstrations have been undertaken, still a good shot - and does give a good sense of scale for the smaller craft.
Looks like an A-320 to me - been to the states on them twice! Prefer the 767 we were on this time though to be honest.
Was it as windy a day as those smoke trails make it look as though it was?
